Wildsam Big Trees of California

Selected images from a series of 18 illustrations for one of Wildsam’s cute pocket travel guides. This one is all about the Big Trees of California. Subject matter includes a map of the Redwood Highway, Giant Sequoia and Coast Redwood comparison, portraits of Julia Butterfly Hill and others, the role of Pacific rhododendron (Rhododendron macrophyllum), Western sword fern (Polystichum munitum), and redwood sorrel (Oxalis oregana) as understory plants, the Eternal Treehouse, the albino redwood tree at the San Francisco Botanical Garden, the Arcata Bay Oyster Festival, and elk in the meadow at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.
